Yeah I had a lot of trouble with Diablo too. That stupid fire pillar would just annihilate my pets, and when it got to the 2nd phase the clone's Zombie Bears did the same. I ended up asking a friend of mine for help so I'm not too sure what kind of advice I can give you, but I'll tell you what I know. Zombie bears completely tear through his life, but only if you have the mana regen to sustain their use. If you can somehow keep your pets out of the fire pillar they should remain relatively unharmed.
