Posted: 10/30/08 01:24 PM Hey all. I am not a transmission guy. I am a pretty good mechanic, but transmissions are not my thing.

I have had good success at swapping out a bad transmission with a used or rebuilt transmission. Cqe Primer 6th Edition. First - what went wrong?

I am not sure. I was out of town when my daughter's '93 Mustang LX, 4 cyc., A4LD transmission failed. She had it towed home.

When I got home, I started it and no gears worked. The fluid was extremely low. I added about a quart and got it to move. I was able to drive it onto my ramps. I removed the transmission.

As I was removing it, I noticed a lot of fluid all around. This was strange, because this transmission had never leaked. I thought it might have blown out the front seal. When I dropped it all the way out, there was a lot of fluid in the bell housing. Second - I go to the junk yard and pick up a A4LD. I had a lot of trouble installing this transmission. It just didn't want to go in correctly.

After three tries, it was installed. When I started up.nothing. I figured I needed fluid, but the level was high on the dip stick. The funny thing was the fluid level did not change from engine off to engine running. I'm thinking there is a torque converter or fluid pump problem. From a suggestion at another forum, I disconnected the coolant line to check the pump operation. There was no fluid coming out while the engine is running.

NOTHING. Nicki Minaj Pharrell Get Like Me Mp3 Download on this page. not even a drip. When I removed this transmission, there was little fluid inside the torque converter.

I felt this indicated a failure of the fluid pump. Exchanged this transmission with my warranty. Third - a replacement from the junk yard.

This one went in perfectly. Everything looks great. I even installed a new/rebuilt TC. Started it up.NOTHING again. It doesn't engage or move. I checked the level while running and it's too high. How can this be?

I only added about 5 quarts. Sure enough, the fluid level remains unchanged from engine off to engine on. (SAME AS ABOVE) Is the pump no good? I haven't done the coolant line test yet. All three problems seem to be the same. But what else can this be?

Did I just get unlucky with two crap transmissions from the same yard, or is there something in the vacuum, coolant lines, or electronics I should be checking? FYI.I installed a brand new filter. Any and all help is appreciated. One more thing. Download Traktor Dj Studio Free Download Vollversion Deutsch. when I picked up the second transmission at the wreching yard, the yard man removes the torque converter and then graps the transmission by the input shaft to lift into the truck!

Posted: 10/30/08 05:14 PM just curious. Were you having problems bolting the trans to the engine???? The converter might have been sticking out too far???? If you already know this.

Other readers will learn from reading it. When installing the converter. There are several things that have to fit all the way in. You cannot just put the converter up and have it slide all the way in the first time. You have to hold it by the pilot after you insert the converter on the input shafts and stator support. Then while holding it on center. Spin it while pushing slightly.
